We Will Miss You Carolyn

Please be in prayer for a very special family this weekend. Carolyn Gephart passed away Monday, August 17, 2009 from her three year battle with breast cancer. She leaves behind a husband, Jay, and four children, Samantha, Molly, Will, and Libby. This weekend, the family will be laying her to rest here on this earth. I can only imagine that this will be an especially difficult time. Pray that God's peace will comfort Jay and the children and that they will find hope in the fact that their mother is now safely in the arms of her Savior in heaven.

Jay was Sean's orchestra conductor during his senior year at Purdue and I occasionally see him when I'm working at PMO. Carolyn played in the Lafayette Symphony with Sean and all of our children went to the same school for three years. Jay is also the director of the Purdue Marching Band and the entire Purdue Bands Department.

Our hearts are heavy with this loss and my hope is that when you say your prayers in the coming days, that you will remember this family. We will miss you, Carolyn.

Playing With My Poppy

Poppy and Nena stopped by our house on the way home from their vacation. They were gone a long time and we sure did miss them a lot! I had fun playing with Poppy so Mommy decided to put some pictures on the blog for everyone to see how much fun I had.

I can't wait to see Poppy and Nena again! Welcome home!

First Day of School 2009

Today was the first day of school for the big kids. The girls loved kindergarten, complete with hugs for the teacher. Caleb had a great day too. I'm sure it helped a lot that his best friend from his old school is in his class. Justin, on the other hand, had a few alligator tears on the way home. I hope he adjusts soon and that he will make a friend...the tears are hard for me. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Anyway, here is the first day of school picture. I think they look great!

The Night Before Kindergarten

Tomorrow my girls are going to Kindergarten. We celebrated the occasion by reading this book...

I don't think I will have too many tears though. They are soooo ready to go to school and they can't wait! I'm sure it will be a little quieter around the house tomorrow morning, but I guess I can just hang out with this little guy...

who, by the way, held a rattle for the first time tonight!

They Made It But Now They're Gone

Well, I woke up this morning to find the bread and cinnamon rolls had indeed risen, and boy, were they good! I didn't have time to take pictures of the kids eating them, with getting ready for church and all, but they really enjoyed them. I shared the loaf of bread with someone at church, so it's gone too!

Now, to pack for Holiday World!! Have a great Sunday everybody!

Two Months Old

Today Evan is two months old. I can't believe how the time has flown by since he became a part of our family. We can't imagine how life would be without him now that he's here. Happy two month birthday baby boy! Here are some things we have been enjoying about you...

You love it when Mommy "eats" your feet.

You coo and talk to everyone.

When Daddy or Mommy puts you in your bed at night, you hardly ever cry, but go right to sleep or look around until you fall asleep on your own.

You like for Justin to hold you and talk to you.

You like to sit in your bouncy seat and look at the monkey.

You like to swim in your float.

You love your bath.

We think it's fun to watch you look around at all the new things you see every day.

We love you, Evan.

Today is also my first day to make cinnamon rolls with my Aunt's bread starter recipe. Mom shared her starter with me, so I made cinnamon rolls...

and a loaf of bread...

They have to raise tonight while we sleep, so we'll see in the morning if it worked. Hhmmm...could be interesting. I'll let you know how it goes.
